I suggest the children are listed in the order of their ages both in 18 50 and 1860. For John to appear in both census, he was obviously born pri or to 1850 which would support an age closer to the 1840 he claimed in t he 1900 census.

Greensburg New Era
The town of Burney's Station is all agog over a senstaional development that occured here last week. John Knuckles, a blacksmith of that place and a lady who was supposed to have been his wedded wife, had for several years lived among the villiagers, having the entire confidence and respect of the community. The domestic life of the family was as placid as the average, until within a fewmonths past. Recently, it became apparent that harmony had foresaken the heretofore happy home. Family jars were of frequent occurence and one or two separations was the result. Last week they againquarreled and the supposed Mrs Knuckles, made the startling disclosure that they were never married. The name of the lady in question was Gosnold (sic), and she is os a highly respected family of the name living in Adams township. Six years ago she eloped with Knuckles. They went to Kentucky, where they expected to be married, but the lady being considerably under age, they failed to get a license. They then returned to Indiana and have lived together sice, under the guise of man and wife, and nothing to the contrary would likely have been known, if they would have continued to live happily together. Seeing the predicament in which they were placed by the exposure and its legal consequences, license was procurred and they were married last Friday. They immediately separated again. An object of the contention was a boy four years old, the only child born to the pair. That was compromised and the boy given to the mother in consideration of her deeding the former home of the family, a house and lot in Burneys to Mr Knuckles. Proceedings will likely begin shortley by one or the other for a divorce.

Dynamiters At Work
Greenwood, In Oct 12-Unknown persons dynamited the home of William WIley, living at Burney, a small town ten miles west of this place. The charge was placed under the northwest corner of the house and under a room occupied by John Knuckles, a blacksmith, who at the time was in this city. It is thought that Knuckles was the object of the deed. The house was partially destroyed by the charge.
