Auto Fatalities
Several muder indictments growing out of fatal automobile accidents are also set for trial during the current term. Howard Knuckles will face a jusry on Nov --, for the death of Eileen Cole, a 12 year old girl who died after being struck by Knukcles car nea Coal City, a few miles from Beckley, early in September. At the time of the accident, George Nudley who was in the car with Knuckles declared that he had told Knuckles to stop as the child appeared badly hurt. Following his arrest several hours later Nudley told county officers that Knuckles refused to stop. Knuckles was taken into custody the same night when he went to his home in Winding Gulf.

Driver of Death Car Convicted at Beckley
Beckley Nov 15- A Raleigh County criminal court jury today convicted Howard Knuckles, Winding Gulf, miner, of murder in the second degree in connection with the death of Eileeen Cole, 9, who was struck and killed by Knuckles' automobile near Cole City on August 11. The state charged that Knuckles failed to stop after his automobile swerved from the highway and struck the child and her sister who was injured. Arguments on a motion to set aside the verdict are to be heard on Nov 23.

Sentence Reduced in Raleigh Death Case
Beckley, Mar 25- A decision was handed down here today by Judge C M Ward of circuit court in the Howard Knuckles case, who was convicted here over two years ago in criminal court. In 1929 Knuckles wa sentenced to serve ten years in the state penetentiary for the killing of Eileen Cole, a young Marsh Fork firl. It was alleged at the time that Knuckles was driving the automobile which struck her. Under the ruling of the circuit court judge to whom the case was appealed the defendant was permitted to plead guilty to a charge of coluntary manslaughter after Prosecuting Attorney W H McGinnis Jr reccommended that the second degree charge be nolled. Judge Wards decision was a fine of $1 and a 12 months jail sentence. Knuckles was then placed on probation for five years and ordered to pay the family of the girl $1000 in monthly payments of $20.

THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Wed., Sept. 5, 1934, p. 1, col. 4 Glendon Stone, young white man of Broad street this city, was instantly killed Friday night near Stoneville, N.C., when a car in which he and two com panions were riding ran off state highway 77 into a ditch and turned compl etely over. Stone was badly hurt internally causing death instantly. Earl Knight, a companion was taken to the Leaksville Hospital in a serious c ondition. The third occupant of the car was only slightly hurt. Funeral se rvices for the deceased were held from Mount Herman Church, three miles no rthwest of Bassett Sunday afternoon. Burial followed nearby. Surviving a re his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ewell Stone; one sister, Mrs. R. T.
