[28389] According to the census records, Harvey was born in 1888 and agrees with his army records. Unknown why his later census and death record is 1897. IN 1900 his mother said she was married 11 yrs to Hiram Dugger, making Harvey not likely his son. and that census reflects a birth date of 188

( This shows his DOB was probably really 1888)

«/b»Could it Possibly Have Been John?
John Dugger, up until a few months ago employed at the local Southern Pacific station and now em ployed In an Oregon City paper mill, Is, according to the Oregon Voter,
Buffering the anguish of humiliation because of the fact that a young man by the same name was pinched for making nocturnal visits to hencoops In the surrounding districts. Poor John, we who know him in Ashland realize bow his sensitive nature must surfer from the chaffing of his friends. Maybe even now John Is wondering if his Ashland friends have read of "John Dugger of Oregon City arrested for stealing two chickens," and believe that John was John. It was not a very heinous offense which Dugger the pinched was fined for. He was merely getting a couple of tender hens for a little fried chicken party. It was really a joke and should cast no lasting blight upon the young life of the miscreant, but even then well, you understand. (Now that we think about it, there was no description of either John and It may be that John was John. But a later article confirms his one was , in fact, the actual theif, and not the one who lived here.)
[28395]
Our Mind at Rest;
It Was Not JohnThe many Ashland friends of John Dugger, who was formerly employed in the local Southern Pacific offices and is now located in Oregon City, will be glad to learn that John was not the Dugger who was arrested for chicken stealing some time ago. The following item was enclosed in a letter from Mr. Hugger asking us to set forth the truth concerning the af fair: "A strange case of mistaken identity has resulted in deep troubles for John II. Dugger, an employee of one of the local paper companies. "Dugger has received a letter from his mother, Mrs. Lou Dugger, of Boonery, accusing him of stealing chickens. 'I did not know that I had raised my son to be a chicken thief,' the letter read. Dugger began an investigation, for, he declares, he 'has never taken a tiling that belonged to somebody else,' and found that a week ago a man named John Dugger was arrested and fined for chicken stealing in the recorder's court. His mother read the story of John Dugger's arrest and conviction in a Port land newspaper and thought that it was her son. "Dugger came to Oregon City from Ashland several months ago and does not know the other man wtih his name. He Is well known throughout southern Oregon, he says, and regrets that the story of the arrest and conviction of a man with his name should be so widely circulated. The Dugger who stole the chickens lives at Parkplace
