Enlisted 1/23/1863 at Richmond for the duration of the gfvwar, he was mustered into "B" Co. VA 25th Battn Infantry as a Private.
Present on all rolls until POW 4/6/1865 at Sayler's Creek, Farmville, VA.; confined 4/14/1865 Point Lookout, MD; Oath of Allegiance, released 6/15/1865.
The 25th Virginia Infantry Battalion was organized with five companies at Richmond as a local defense unit on August 15, 1862.

Damage By Federal Troops
Court of Claims, Allows Spottsylvania Man $850
Fredericksburg VA- The United States Court of Claims at Washington has handed down a finding allowing the estate of William P Nuckols of Spottsylvania county, damages to the amount of $850 for stock taken and timber destroyed by the Federal forces during the civil war of over forty years ago. The damage was done after the surrender, when the federal forces were returning North. Mr Granville R Swift of this city, represented the Nuckols estate and has secured favorable action on a number of church claims for which it is expected that Congress will make appropriations during the approaching session.
