PARKERSBURG - Anna L. Burchard, 84, of Parkersburg died Feb. 28, 2004, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 12, 1920, at Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Virgil Grant and Eva M. McDonald Grant. Anna was a 1937 graduate of Parkersburg High School and Mountain State College. She retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture ASCS Division after 27 years of service. She was a member of American Legion Post 15 Auxiliary and the NASCOE.
Survivors include her daughter, Myra Tewksbury and her husband, Ted, of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Sarah Deem of Parkersburg; sister in law, Elizabeth Hunt of Bradenton, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Cynthia Schlarb, Toni Lynn DeVore and Brenda Pugh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. "Benny" Burchard, and four sisters, Ruth Nuckles, Imogene Shields, Edith Edwards and Bobbie Schlarb.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to service on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Parkersburg, 29th and Poplar streets, in Anna's memory.

Sara Grant DeVore Deem, 79, of Parkersburg passed away Jan. 19, 2008, at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.She was born Nov. 4, 1928, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Virgil and Eva Maude McDonald Grant. Sara was a 1946 graduate of Parkersburg High School; was a 1949 graduate of the Camden-Clark School of Nursing; had previously been employed for Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital as a surgical nurse and for Dr. F. L. Blair; had worked for Parkersburg Medical Associates; was a member of the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital Alumni; and was a member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.Surviving is her daughter and her husband, Toni Lynne DeVore and Joe O. Smith of Parkersburg; two granddaughters, Jessica Deem Beers of Parkersburg and Sararose Smith Lynch of Cumberland, Md.; one great-granddaughter, Skylyn Beers of Parkersburg; two step-daughters and their children and grandchildren, Emily Deem Houser and husband, Earl, and Susan Deem Crosten and husband, Gene; a special nephew, Charlie Craven; and numerous other nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett ?Whiskers? Deem in 1982; one son, E. Douglas Deem in 1994; and five sisters and their husbands, Ann and Benny Burchard, Bobbie and John Schlarb, Ruth and Earl Nuckles, Jean and Pete Shields, and Edith and Bob Edwards.Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 903 Charles St., Parkersburg, with the Rev. Art Bennett officiating.
