Death Suddenly Calls Popular Business Man
Emory W Lovejoy Expires After Brief Illness, Has Purcahsed Partner's Interest
Emory W Lovejoy, bookkeeper for M E Mulvey, is dead. Death occured in Mr Lovejoy's apartments, 7 east Third South St, at an early hour this morning, and rheumatism of the heart was the cause. Mr Lovejoy who was 47 years old, had been in ill health for many years, suffering from rheumatism. He had never, however, been forced by his illness, to relinquish his duties even for a day in the liquor store with which he was connected. He remained in his apartments Tuesday. On that day, the papers transferring the liquor business of Martin E Mulvey to him were drawn, and acknowledged. Mr Mulvey retired from the business. After this transfer had been completed, Mr Lovejoy was seized with an attack of rheumatism more severe than was ordinary and returned to his rooms. At an early hour this morning Mr Lovejoy expired. He was attended by Dr Harrison. The arrangements for the funeral have not been made, but it is understood that the body will be sent to his former home, Atlanta, Ga, where his parents , three sisters and four brothers reside.
Nuckols In Charge
Upon the transfer of Mr Mulvey's liquor business to Mr Lovejoy, J R Nuckols, cashier, was placed in charge of his affairs. Mr Nuckols will retain charge of the business until all of the details have been straightened out. Mr Lovejoy had been a resident of this city for fourteen years in which time he was associated with Martin E Mulvey. It is understood that Mr Mulvey's retirement from business was caused by his need of rest and recuperation. No changes will be made for a time at least in the management of the business. While Mr Nuckols will be in charge, everything will be conducted as in the past.
