WYTHE COUNTY

09 April 1793. Charles Nuckolls of the County of Wythe sells land in the County of Wythe along both sides of Cripple Creek for the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds to Nathaniel Nuckolls of the same County. This tract contains 500 acres more or less.Deed Book 2, pages 414, 415, and 416.

Feb. 1797. George Ewing and wife, Elenor sell two tracts of land, 568 acres on New River in Wythe Co., VA to Samuel C. Nuckols of Louisa Co., VA for sum of two hundred pounds. The land joined the land of Nathaniel Nuckolls at the time of sale.Deed Book 2, pages 228 and 229. 29

12 or 17 June 1820. Samuel Nuckolls of Louisa Co., VA sells land to Nathaniel Nuckolls of Wythe Co., VA. This land lying in Wythe County on the waters of New River was purchased for the sum of $2,000.00 and totaled 568 acres more or less. This purchase joined land already owned by Nathaniel Nuckolls. Deed Book 8, pages 106 and 107.

John Nuckolls and Martha his wife, sold property to Andrew Nuckolls for the sum of $530.00. This was listed as one undivided sixth part of the real estate in the Last Will and Testament of Nathaniel Nuckolls, their father. Other children of Nathaniel Nuckolls' listed in this document are: Lorenzo Nuckolls, Nancy Nuckolls, and Elizabeth Nuckolls.[This is the Nancy Nuckolls that married Abner Thompson and Elizabeth Nuckolls that married William A. Pope]

17 July 1835.  Deed Book 13, pages 158 and 159. Lorenzo D. Nuckolls and wife, Catharine, sells land to John Earhart for the sum of $500.00. The land, upon the waters of Cripple Creek, was devised to L. D. Nuckolls by his father, Nathen Nuckolls. Number of acres not stated.

17 July 1835 Deed Book 13, pages 159,160, and 160. Andrew Nuckolls and his wife, Celia of Wythe Co., VA sold land to John Earhart of Wythe Co., VA for the sum of $1,000.00. This land, on the waters of Cripple Creek, was devised to Andrew by his father, Nathen Nuckolls, deceased. One share devised to Andrew Nuckolls and one share to John Nuckolls from whom John Earhart purchased the same together. Andrew had previously purchased John Nuckolls’ part. Celia signed as Selah Nuckolls.

Martha [Towler] Nuckolls sells a Negro boy, Fielding to Andrew Nuckolls and William Pope [husband of Elizabeth Nuckolls] for the sum of $200.00. Fielding was devised to Martha Nuckolls during her life by Nathaniel Nuckolls, now deceased.

24 January 1836. Andrew Nuckolls and William Pope[husband of Elizabeth Nuckolls] of Wythe Co., VA paid $120.00 to Martha [Towler] Nuckolls of Wythe Co., VA for a tract of land devised to her as a dower by Nathaniel Nuckolls. This land was situated upon the waters of Cripple Creek in Wythe Co., containing app. 360 acres. Deed Book 13, pages 366 and 367.

1841, Wythe County Deed Book 15, page 39, William and Elizabeth [Nuckolls]Pope sold land on Cripple Creek to Calvin M. Nuckolls.The 112 acres sold for $100.00.

15 (?) March 1842.  Deed Book 15, page 563,564, and 565. Abner Thompson and Nancy [Nuckolls], his wife of Wythe Co., VA sold 112 acres to John Earhart of Wythe Co., VA for the sum of $500.00. This land, lying on the waters of Cripple Creek, was devised to them by the Last Will and Testament of Nathaniel Nuckolls.

14 Feb.1848 Order Book 1842-1848, page 606 states Abner THOMPSON [husband of Nancy NUCKOLLS Thompson, dau. on Nathaniel Nuckolls and Martha TOWLER Nuckolls] and William A. POPE [husband on f Nancy’s sister, Elizabeth Nuckolls Pope] were to check on the best alteration for a road in Wythe Co., VA near their homes. [At this time, Elizabeth Nuckolls Pope was deceased and William had married 2nd wife, Elizabeth RICKEY or Rickee.

14 July 1848 Abner Thompson [husband of Nancy Nuckolls, dau. of Nathaniel Nuckolls and Martha Towler Nuckolls] and William A. Pope [husband of Nancy's sister Elizabeth Nuckolls Pope] were to check on the best alteration for a road in Wythe Co., VA near their homes. [At this time, Elizabeth Nuckolls Pope was deceased and William had remarried Elizabeth Rickey].

Chancery Suit 1873– 16 – CC [formally Box 117, Bundle No. 1, May Term 1873] Lafayette SNOW and wife, Nancy POPE Snow vs. John Nuckolls and others from the Nuckolls Family. The case was brought to partition the land once belonging to Nathaniel Nuckolls. Thomas J. Pope, brother of Nancy Pope Snow, Laura Jane Pope, daughter of Lorenzo Pope, Lafayette Pope, and James Johnson and his wife, Cynthia [Cynthia, daughter of Andrew Nuckolls and wife, Lydia Jones Nuckolls] are among the family members named with other children and grandchildren of Nathaniel Nuckolls of Wythe Co., VA.
